Dead Again: Occultus lake
02/05/13 || gk
This is one impressive debut. Dead Again play a sort of sludge metal with bits of technical hardcore, death metal and even traces of southern rock to create a crushingly heavy album with some memorable songs and a thick, dark atmosphere. Imagine if 16 were coming from a death metal base and you’ll get close to imagining the sound on “Occultus lake”. The band also has a love for genre films and its shows in the album cover and samples used which are effective and nicely done. At just over 20 minutes, I’m not sure if “Occultus lake” even qualifies as a full length but this is some high quality extreme music that is heavy as fuck, always groovy and comes with memorable songs. It’s also a “name your price” download on Bandcamp so go show Dead Again some love.
7.5/10: Definitely a band to keep an eye on.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
